The New Centre is a specialized imaging and therapy facility situated in Felix Dlamini, Durban, 4001. Imaging for cancer and other tumour related conditions. A PET/CT is an imaging tool that is able to diagnose, monitor and assist in the management of cancer patients and other tumour related conditions which are not
visible on other imaging modalities and are not evident physically or biochemically. It is the latest technique for early detection. The Discovery IQ is the latest product designed to direct medicine on the path of personalized care.
The Nuclear Medicine department at Medigate Center, under the direction of Dr. Masha Maharaj, consists of a team of highly trained technologists and nursing staff, able to perform and provide excellent service in Nuclear Medicine diagnostic imaging and therapeutics.
The Centre is equipped with the latest and advanced SPECT Gamma camera and equipment for In vivo and In vitro labelling studies. The Nuclear Medicine services offered are kept in accordance with the latest scientific developments, standards and techniques.
Dr Maharaj is a specialist in Nuclear Medicine. She did her MBBCh through Wits University. She specialized at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town where she obtained qualifications through the College of Nuclear Physicians of SA (FCNP), thereafter obtaining her Masters in Nuclear Medicine (MMED) through Stellenbosch University.
Dr Maharaj is the only South African candidate to participate and receive certificate in the 1st World Theranostics Academy (WTA).
She obtained Diplomas’ in Small Business Management and Bookkeeping whilst studying her MBBCh Degree.
Prior to specializing she worked in several hospitals including McCord’s, Addington, Mahatama Gandhi Memorial Hospitals in Durban, and Nkonjeni Hospital in Ulundi.
As a specialist, Dr Maharaj worked in Provincial Government for several years, most recently, Polokwane Provincial Hospital where she successfully implemented outreach programs for the Province in her field of Nuclear Medicine. Dr Maharaj has since transitioned into Private Health Care.
She is published in several international journals and contributed her work in a Cancer textbook.
She has presented her work internationally. She is actively involved in the World association of Radiopharmaceutical and Molecular Therapy (WARMTH).
Her interests are Oncology and Infection imaging as well as Theranostics.
Dr Jackpersad is a specialist in Radiology. He obtained his MBChB through the University of Natal in 1971. He specialized at Natal University where he obtained qualifications FF RAD (D) (SA) - Colleges of Medicine, SA in 1983.
Dr Jackpersad has mentored and continues to train Radiologists at the University of Natal and assists the College in the specialist examinations.
His work and contribution in Radiology and Imaging in Kwa-Zulu Natal is unsurpassed. His knowledge and experience in his field has made him an expert in various imaging techniques including breast imaging, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal imaging, cardiac imaging, and paediatric (children’s) imaging.
Ramilla Singh is a qualified Administrator. She obtained the National Diploma in Personnel Management, BTech Degree in Human Resources Management and the Management Development Diploma. She has worked at the University of Durban-Westville/University of Kwazulu-Natal, Hire-it, Arres Plant Hire and the University of Zululand. She has a total of 37 years of experience at various levels as a Officer, Administrator and a Manager.
She has multiple skill-based competencies including group process intervention aimed at improving interpersonal relations and social interactions. This is directed to assist the company in achieving results, meeting goals, and accomplishing tasks. She is key management in enhancing and establishing our company mission statement.
Marclan Tarental is a qualified Nuclear medicine radiographer with more than 10 years of experience. He obtained his National Diploma of Radiography in Nuclear Medicine in the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), Western Cape in 2004.
He has experience in both the private and public sector. He has been involved in training Radiographers at CPUT in the Western Cape. Mr Tarental was clinical tutor for final year diploma students and part time lecturer for 1st year clinical and coordinator for clinical exams (OSCE).
He has done research in radiolabeling and presented his work internationally. He has an excellent drive and diligence in his work and in his compassion for people.
Amith is a registered paramedic with the HPCSA. He is also a certified Health and Safety Officer registered with SAIOSH (South African Institute for Occupational Health and Safety).
He has worked and studied as Auxillary nurse at Mahathma Ghandi Hospital. Thereafter he has worked as a paramedic at Netcare 911.
He has volunteered he’s services at many other organisations namely: SAPS, NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute) and the South African Defence Force as paramedic.
Mr Baldeo is skilled and accomplished in his field and is an asset to our team. He is zealous and is determined in applying his best at all times to patient care
Tendai completed his Nuclear Medicine training at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town where he obtained a National diploma through Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). Mr Nyamupingidza has also obtained a B.tech degree from CPUT.
Tendai worked in private practice in Cape Town for several years where he has gained experience and skills in Nuclear Medicine techniques including PET/CT.
Mr Nyamupingidza is a good and positive addition to our team. His skill and compassion is expressed in his hard work and diligence in his capabilities and specialty. He has exemplary zeal in his attitude and composure in both patient care and management
